The Human Rights Resource Centre has made its first regional baseline study result entitled “Rule of Law in the ASEAN Region: A Baseline Study” available in electronic version. The book is available in English and Bahasa Indonesia and can be downloaded from the HRRC website.
The regional baseline study looks at how the members of ASEAN define and interpret the rule of law and its relationship with good governance and human rights. The study involves a range of secondary sources including surveys on the opinion of experts and the general public, information from the police, courts, attorneys, NGO and other institution reports and legislation. The ten in-country researchers involved in this nine months study conducted an analysis of these sources to see the overall implementation of the rule of law in the ASEAN Member States.
The Human Rights Resource Centre is a not for profit organization designed to support the work of ASEAN human rights bodies. For further information, contact us at info@hrrca.org.
