Implementing the UNGP in Investment Policy – Focus on State Duties

The Investment & Human Rights Project of the London School of Economics (LSE IHRP), in collaboration with the HRRC, will host a workshop (10 November) and a multi-stakeholder dialogue (11 November) in Jakarta that will aim to contribute directly to the ongoing work of the Indonesian National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) and civil society to draft a National Action Plan on business and human rights.

The workshop on the 10th of November will engage civil society, academics and the Komnas HAM in a collective learning exercise on investment policy and human rights, focusing on the State duty to protect human rights as described under the UNGPs. The workshop will be based on the handbook written specifically to provide guidance in this area (published in Indonesian and English).

The multi-stakeholder dialogue on the 11th of November will bring together a small group of stakeholders from the private sector, government ministries, civil society, academics and Komnas HAM to discuss the key points and issues raised on 10 November, and share views and deepen the discussion on how to overcome identified challenges.

Both activities will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Cikini, Jakarta, Indonesia.
